The %P&I deaths in Maine last week hit a seasonal high at 22.7% after a three-week increase. One factor that makes it difficult to compare the significance of this with past seasons is that there is only one vital statistics office that has been reporting this season versus as many as four in past seasons.
But, it does seem odd that %P&I deaths would hit a seasonal high when all other indicators suggest that the flu is declining.
