"A month ago, we would receive only one or two throat swab samples every day for tests. Now, we are receiving 20 to 30 samples every day. Our analysis shows an increase of 10-15% in the virus' transmission, whereas the rate should be 1-2% during this period of time," Chadha said.
She said the pandemic strain of the H1N1 virus had completely replaced the earlier seasonal strain of the virus. "At present, pandemic H1N1 and a seasonal H3N2 strain of influenza are co-circulating."

Re: Maharashtra Flu 2013, 44 fatalities
Spurt in H1N1 cases, doctors advise caution
AURANGABAD: A sudden rise in suspected swine flu cases in the city, despite a rise in temperature, has left medical experts baffled. A few days back, three suspected swine flu patients were admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
City physicians said around 10 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. The extended winter in early February in the region, the intermittent sharp disturbances during the winter to summer transition phase and declining immunity among the masses are reasons for the recent rise in swine flu cases, they said.
According to GMCH medical superintendent P Gattani, "Four patients suspected to have swine flu were admitted to GMCH in a week. However, the swab samples of these patients tested negative and they have been shifted from the swine flu ward.
