YOKOHAMA--Three elderly inpatients at a Yokohama hospital have died after 15 patients and hospital staff were diagnosed with influenza, according to the hospital.
The three men died of pneumonia between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning after developing a mild fever around Tuesday, the Ushioda General Hospital in Tsurumi Ward said Saturday. All were in their 70s or 80s and had been suffering from lung diseases or cancer.
According to the hospital, an inpatient and a member of the staff were found Tuesday to have contracted the flu. By Saturday, 13 more--12 inpatients on the fifth floor and a nurse working on the floor--had also been diagnosed with influenza...
