    Foot and mouth disease in Arunachal

    ITANAGAR, Sept 13 ? Outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) has been reported from remote Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh in the past several days.

    Reportedly six mithuns died following the outbreak of the disease in epidemic form at Pungrung and Layang villages under Sangram circle of the district, official sources informed here today.

    The toll may increase with a number of animals still believed to be in the jungle...

    Vets swing into action to check foot-and-mouth disease outbreak

    ITANAGAR: Following the reported death of six mithuns due to outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) at Pungrung and Layang villages in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey district in the last few weeks, a team of vets, along with required medicines, has been rushed to Sangram to check its outbreak.

    To fight the outbreak of FMD, district animal husbandry and veterinary officer Hage Taley has made the request for sending a team to the affected area. In addition to treatment, the team will also collect serum and tissue samples for virus isolation and typing, said Dr K Basar.
