BOISE -- After seeing 23 Idahoans die from the H1N1 flu virus in the last year, the number of confirmed swine flu cases is dwindling fast.
And to this point, the seasonal flu has been virtually non-existent.

We talked with several doctors Wednesday about the low flu numbers.
Each of them can only guess why we had the drop off from levels just months ago that were the highest ever recorded.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, flu season peaked in October.

We saw that across many parts of southern Idaho. Schools and entire school districts shut down.

Schools saw record low attendence when parents kept kids home when they were sick.

Since the peak the number of reported cases of both the H1N1 and seasonal flu have declined drastically.

"A really interesting flu season. We had an incredible burst at the beginning of the flu season with the novel H1N1 flu. Saw a lot of activity back in October, November and really saw that fall off. In terms of the seasonal flu season, we've seen almost nothing. Really no activity at all," said Dr. Justin Glass, Family Medicine Residency of Idaho.

We also talked with a doctor at Boise State's University Health Services.
He's seen the same thing with BSU students as seen across the country -- virtually no students sick with the influenza.
