    Japan Halts Beef Imports from U.S. Factory

    Tokyo, Oct. 25 (Jiji Press)--Japan has halted the imports of beef from a U.S. factory because its recent shipments contained ribs that cannot be confirmed as meat of cows aged 20 months or younger, the government said Tuesday.

            Japan begins process to ease restrictions on U.S. beef imports

            HONOLULU (Kyodo) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba told U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday that the Japanese government has begun a process to ease import restrictions on U.S. beef imposed over fears of mad cow diseases.

              Panel to study easing US beef import restrictions

              Japan's health ministry says it will ask a government panel to study easing restrictions on US beef imports. The restrictions were imposed as a precaution against BSE, or mad cow disease.

                Japan mulls relaxing beef import restrictions
