    ?Ayurvedic treatment effective?
    Sunday July 29 2007 10:23 IST
<SMALL>KOLLAM: Ayurvedic Medical Association of India has claimed that ayurvedic treatment was effective in chikungunya and viral fever treatment.

Association district president K Prakash and noted Ayurvedic physician Yatheendran told mediapersons that those who took ayurvedic medicines for chikungunya were found to be having no complaints of pain on the joints.

They said most important thing for the patients was to take sufficient rest. They should eat only hot and digestible food. In the initial stages of chikungunya, no thailam (herbal oil) should be applied on the body. Dhara and ?lapanam? will help reduce the pain and swelling on the joints.

Speaking on the occasion, AMAI academic cell convener Rajan Babu said the AMAI district committee had been conducting free check-up and distribution of medicines in fever-affected areas.

Chathannur area president Saji Prasad said the distribution of the dhoopa kit as a vector control measure had been found effective in various fever- affected areas.
