The Ministry of Health begins Monday Michoacan implementing vaccine Influenza A (H1N1) to health personnel in direct contact with patients and pregnant women in the third trimester of pregnancy. For this first phase of vaccination there is a budget of 15.480 doses arrived this week to Michoacan.
The implementation will take place in 20 health centers for the state's largest cities such as Morelia, Uruapan, Patzcuaro, Zamora, La Piedad, Apatzingan Zitacuaro and L?zaro C?rdenas, among others. In addition, health brigades will go to hospitals to vaccinate health workers in direct contact with patients with influenza-like respiratory illness.
The Health Department urges all people, including people who are going to be immunized, to maintain basic security measures to prevent the spread of this virus. Washing your hands often with soap and water, care of covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of your elbow when you sneeze or cough remain important measures to reduce the risk of infection and mitigate the effects of this epidemic in terms of severe diseases and deaths.
Epidemic
To date, there have been confirmed in Michoacan 2.742 cases of Influenza A (H1N1) and 18 deaths since the epidemic started last April. The last two were confirmed later this week, and occurred at the Hospital General "Dr. Miguel Silva ", in two males.
Most cases have been studied in a small way and have already been recovered. As is known, the flu caused by this new virus is mainly manifested by the appearance of high fever, cough, sore throat and headache, which may be accompanied by muscle and joint pain, runny nose and malaise.
The recommendation of the Ministry of Health is that at the onset of these symptoms, do not treat yourself and go to a health unit for treatment, the doctor who will determine the treatment to follow.
Importantly, no need for the sample and wait for the confirmation of the presence of the virus lab to make medical decisions and to install treatment early, especially in those with risk factors for developing complications, such as women pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and respiratory diseases and those with pre-morbid obesity.
