    For most adults, the influenza virus means a week or so of fever, sore throat, cough, headache and body aches. But for children, the flu can have much more serious consequences, such as ear infections, dehydration, pneumonia or death.

    Severe complications from the flu send an average of 20,000 children under 5 to the hospital in the United States annually...
