By Craig Welch
Seattle Times staff reporter
A Snohomish County man has become the first person in Washington state to die from complications due to the swine flu, health officials announced today.
The Snohomish County man, who officials said was in his 30s, had an underlying heart condition. He became sick on April 30 and died Wednesday from what appears to be complications of swine-origin influenza (H1N1), officials with the state Department of Health said.
As of Saturday, 70 cases were confirmed in King County, which includes Seattle; 18 were confirmed in Snohomish County; five in Pierce County; two each in Spokane, Whatcom and Clark counties; and one each in Thurston and Skagit counties.

First Swine Flu- Related Death Confirmed in Northwest
May 9, 2009 10:50 PM EDT
OLYMPIA, Wash.-- According to the Washington State Department of Health, a Snohomish County man in his 30s with underlying heart conditions died last week with what appears to be complications of swine-origin influenza (H1N1). This is the first death in Washington associated with the new flu strain.
While this marks the first death in this state related to swine flu, the case counts are expected to continue rising for some time to come.
Health officials say an additional 18 cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Washington, bringing the state's total to 101. The state Department of Health said Saturday that another 19 cases are considered probable for swine flu. There are still no probable or confirmed cases in Benton, Franklin, or Walla Walla counties.

The denial that this flu is not a threat r a reduced threat never ceases to amaze me!! I guess most will wake up when the death toll increases, which is a shame.
Case and point: Swine flu threat fades - for now-- http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...BAI917HBBD.DTL

Re: US Swine Flu Death #3: Washington State
I'm frustrated also with this worldwide "the patient already had underlying health conditions ..."
There are many, many, humans with such formulation over the 60 or even previous.
The percent of seasonal flu vaccines quantities is mainly digit by the percents of chronic ilnessed/old/...
So, now became normal that an "mild" outcome of serious concequences from this bug could afect maybe 10% of the population - the "chronic/underlaying conditions" ones, etc.

UPDATE:
Swine flu-related death in WA state
01:02 PM PDT on Sunday, May 10, 2009
By KING5.com and Associated Press
The man, who was in his 30s, started showing symptoms on April 30, said Goldbaum. He was prescribed anti-retroviral medication, but died on May 6.
An autopsy shows the man died from viral pneumonia, likely brought on by the flu virus, doctors said.
Doctors say none of the man's family members have shown any symptoms, and they're not sure how he contracted the disease; he had not been to Mexico recently.
