CAIRO (AFP) ? The 12-year-old grandson of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has died, the official MENA news agency reported on Tuesday.
Mohammed Mubarak, son of President Mubarak's eldest son Alaa, "died (Monday) after health complications suffered during the last two days," MENA said, without elaborating.
The 12-year-old boy had been taken to Paris for treatment. First Lady Suzanne Mubarak on Monday cancelled a trip to London to be with her grandson, Al-Shorooq newspaper said.
Mohammed's funeral was to take place in Cairo later on Tuesday.

Presidency of the Republic issued the following statement today: "President Hosni Mubarak is calculated when Muhammad's grandson Ala Hosni Mubarak, who passed away yesterday evening, on the impact of the health crisis that has been in the past two days, and will permeate the funeral on Friday after Asr prayer at a mosque Al Rusdan."

أصدرت رئاسة الجمهورية اليوم البيان التالى: "يحتسب الرئيس حسنى مبارك عند الله حفيده محمد علاء حسنى مبارك الذى وافته المنية مساء أمس، على أثر الأزمة الصحية التى تعرض لها خلال اليومين الماضيين، وسوف تشيع الجنازة اليوم بعد صلاة العصر من مسجد آل رشدان".
