Because around his residence of many chickens that died suddenly. Increased again by the temperature of his body was high, crowded and coughs. So have the possibility AI. So as to have also the other possibility that the temperature of the high and breathless body was caused from the infection.

"But we have taken the example of the nose liquid and the throat as well as the photograph of the chest. Results of the lab have been sent by us to Surabaya to confirm whether he was indeed infected by the bird flu virus or not," said the father of two children.

Usually, continued Oki, the assurance someone was sentenced terjangkit the AI virus or not needed time two weeks. That because of the laboratory inspection that was enough njlimet.

Now, Siyah, the mother Abram, acknowledged if in his village of many chickens that died suddenly that was expected because of bird flu. That happened happened in the last two weeks. Including his two property chickens also died suddenly. "The chicken that died suddenly indeed was but that for a long time," obviously Siyah.

Wow, years into it, Indonesia still doesn't know. Doesn't the WHO tell them anything, or maybe they don't even know either.

Indonesia's bird flu death toll climbs to 50 after another boy dies

Indonesia's bird flu death toll climbs to 50 after another boy dies

      The Associated Press

      Published: September 22, 2006

JAKARTA, Indonesia Indonesia's bird flu death toll climbed to 50 on Friday after laboratory tests showed an 11-year-old boy died of the disease, a senior health official said.

The child died in a hospital in Tulungagung, East Java province, on Monday ? hours after he was admitted and two days after developing symptoms of the disease, said Nyoman Kandun.

He appeared to have had contact with infected poultry.

The H5N1 strain of bird flu has killed at least 144 people worldwide since it started ravaging poultry stocks in Asia three years ago, according to the World Health Organization, which has not yet updated its Web site with the boy's death.

Most human deaths have been traced to contact with sick birds, but experts fear the virus could mutate into a more transmissible form, potentially causing a deadly global pandemic.

Boy dies of bird flu in Indonesia

        From correspondents in Jakarta

        September 22, 2006 06:17pm
        Article from: Reuters

AN 11-year-old Indonesian boy has died of bird flu, the health ministry said today, taking the country's death toll from the disease to 50.

The boy died on Monday at a hospital in Tulungagung in East Java province, said Runizar Ruesin, the head of the ministry's bird flu information centre.

Tests by two local laboratories confirmed he had bird flu, he said.

"He had contact with dead chickens. Chickens have died in his house," Mr Ruesin said.

The ministry would send officials to the area where the boy lived to investigate, he said.

Indonesia has the highest bird flu death toll of any nation. Not including the latest death, the H5N1 avian flu virus has killed 144 people worldwide, the World Health Organisation says.

The H5N1 virus mainly affects birds but experts fear it could mutate into a strain capable of killing millions of people in a global pandemic.

Indonesia has been criticised for not doing enough to combat the disease, endemic in birds in most of the giant archipelago's provinces.

The United Nations bird flu co-ordinator, David Nabarro, said last week that Indonesia had made progress in its fight against the virus.

But he expressed disappointment at the slow flow of funds pledged by international donors to Indonesia for the effort.

The case, which was fatal, occurred in a 5-year-old boy from Tulungagung district, East Java Province. The boy became ill on 8 June, was hospitalized on 14 June and died two days later on 16 June.

An investigation found a history of chicken deaths in the boy's household two weeks before symptom onset. Laboratory testing of poultry in the sub-district confirmed the presence of H5N1 in chickens. Monitoring of close contacts has detected no further cases

"But suddenly on Monday early afternoon was sick my child suddenly relapsed again. Because of his condition apparently serious finally was brought by me to this hospital,"

The above translation provides more detail on the latest confirmed H5N1 bird flu fatality in Indonesia. The patient was diagnosed as having typhus initially, and an H5N1 infection was questioned because the fever was associated with diarrhea. However, two local tests confirmed the H5N1.

Wire reports mention association with dead or dying poultry, but to date there has been no reported poultry isolates with the novel cleavage site in East Java. The isolate A/Indonesia/554H/2006 from an earlier case in Kediri in East Java is listed on the HA phylogenetic tree, and it is clearly on the arm with the other human cases from Java.

Although the sequence has not been released from East Java, a partial sequence of A/Indonesia/177H/2005 has been released, and the sequence is an exact match of the two chicken isolates on Sumatra, and includes the novel cleavage site. The sequence of the other closely related isolate A/Indonesia/557H/2006 has also not been released, but the location on the tree and the identity with 177H, including the HA cleavage site, indicates that the human sequence is in East Java, in the absence of any reported match in poultry. Moreover, this is the second confirmed case in Tulungagung.

Thus, the number of human cases in Java continues to increase, and contact with poultry continues to be cited, yet the absence of matching sequences in a significant portion of poultry isolates on Java continues to be cause for concern.

Indonesia reports its 66th avian flu case

Sep 22, 2006 (CIDRAP News) ? The Indonesian health ministry reported the country's 66th H5N1 avian influenza case and 50th death today, this one in an 11-year-old boy who died Sep 18, according to several media reports.

Runizar Ruesin, head of Indonesia's bird flu information center, told Reuters the boy died at a hospital in Tulungagung in East Java province. An Associated Press report said the boy died 2 days after getting sick and just hours after he was admitted to the hospital

Tests by two local laboratories confirmed that he had H5N1 avian influenza, Ruesin said.

Indonesia has the most avian flu deaths of any country, but its case count is below Vietnam's 93 cases. All of Indonesia's cases have occurred since July 2005. The World Health Organization (WHO) had not yet recognized the new case at this writing.

The boy had contact with dead chickens, which died in his house, Ruesin told Reuters. He said the health ministry would send investigators to the area where the boy lived. Ruesin told Bloomberg News today that authorities are testing the boy's relatives and monitoring close contacts.

The boy's death marks the second avian flu fatality in the Tulungagung district in recent months. A 5-year-old boy from the district died Jun 16, according to the WHO.

The family the domiciled child in the Kaligentong Village, the Pucanglaban Subdistrict, that it was considered had the high risk tertular the virus AI. understood, had done direct contact with casualties.

The official of the team of the Control of the Virus Avian influenza (AI) East Java visited casualties’s house around struck 10.30. By being accompanied by the official from the Tulungagung Health Service, they took the sample of parents’s blood Abram; Sutris and Siyah. The sample of their blood will be tested in the Big Hall the Health Laboratory (BBLK) Surabaya.
