    The victim was a 17-year-old who was pregnant, suffered a heart disease and had a history of tuberculosis.

    SANTO DOMINGO .- A young man of 17 years died in Santo Domingo as a consequence of human influenza, the disease is now reported 11 new cases, bringing to 44 the total affected in Dominican Republic.

    The health authorities have indicated that the deceased, pregnant 27 weeks pregnant, had had a history of cardiac and tuberculosis, which became a patient of high risk. "

    The deceased, a resident of Ban?, Peravia province (south) had been seen at that location in the hospital of Our Lady of Rule, and from there was sent to La Altagracia Maternity in the capital because of its history because of the delicate heart disease and tuberculosis, said the Ministry of Public Health.

    The cases of the disease rose from yesterday to today from 33 to 44 and three of them have required hospitalization of the patient, including the deceased young man, whose identity was not provided.


    Of the 11 new cases, four are from the National District (Santo Domingo center), while in the provinces of Peravia (South), La Altagracia (east) and Santo Domingo (south) have been declared in two each, plus another in La Romana (southeast).

    In terms of total cases in the country, 28 of them belong to the National District, and six in the province of Santo Domingo, three and three to Peravia La Altagracia, while Santiago (north), Mount Floor (East), Saman? (northeast) and La Romana have one each.

    It is recalled that the first human case of influenza was confirmed in Chile is the wife of a high-current, which was vacationing in Punta Cana and on the return flight to Santiago presented the symptoms of the disease.

    44 cases and 2 deaths? I don't believe i've seen numbers like this before. Is it that there are many unconfirmed cases or is it virulence?
