NZ offers Tamiflu to Samoa and other countries in the region
Key addresses aid and swine flu in Samoa

ONE News
An outbreak of swine flu is causing growing concern in the Pacific Islands and Prime Minister John Key is now offering New Zealand's help to stem the spread of the virus which had largely avoided the Islands until now.
The spread of swine flu is of deep concern in Samoa and with only a handful of cases so far, New Zealand is offering to help keep it that way.
"We have stocks of Tamiflu and the likes that we could offer in support if that was required," says Key.
There were no concerns about contamination when it came to sharing a kava bowl though, as Key enjoyed the taste of Samoa before meeting the Head of State His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi who raised concerns about how Fiji is being treated by its larger neighbours.
Key's response to his preferred kava, the Samoan or the Fijian type, perhaps summed up New Zealand's stance.
"Haha, it's difficult to choose among children even if ones a little wayward at the moment," says Key.

Key arrives in Samoa admist swine flu alerts
Wed, 08 Jul 2009 6:22p.m.
The Prime Minister John Key’s arrival in Samoa along with a delegation of seventy people on a four-day pacific trip has sparked a swine flu alert.
That has in turn sparked a New Zealand reaction.
Masked officials meet the Prime Minister’s plane when it landed in Samoa, in preparation to combat swine flu in Samoa.
New Zealand has decided to add more aid support to Samoa and is moving to help Samoa combat swine flu.

Re: NZ sends swine flu aid to Samoa
NZ offers help to Pacific countries with swine flu
Updated at 5:51pm on 8 July 2009
The New Zealand Government is offering financial support to Pacific nations with cases of swine flu as well as stocks of the drug Tamiflu.
Prime Minister John Key is in Samoa, where there are three isolated cases of the H1N1 virus.
On arrival at Faleolo Airport in Apia on Wednesday, all members of the Prime Minister's delegation were screened before being allowed to get off the plane.
Mr Key says New Zealand will help Samoa deal with the virus, including providing Tamiflu if needed, and the offer would be extended to any country in the region in need of assistance.
Mr Key says he is confident that sharing New Zealand stocks of Tamiflu will not run down domestic supplies, as the population numbers in the Pacific are relatively low.

Samoa accepts NZ offer of help with swine flu
Updated at 10:46am on 9 July 2009
The Prime Minister of Samoa says his country will accept an offer by New Zealand to help it manage swine flu.
Samoa has at least three confirmed cases of the virus, which has prompted John Key to pledge New Zealand's support.
During a visit to Samoa on Wednesday, Mr Key offered financial assistance as well as stocks of Tamiflu if needed.
Mr Key said New Zealand, and most likely Australia, will help any country in the Pacific facing swine flu.
Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi said the offer of help from New Zealand is greatly appreciated and will be taken up.
