An adult in Roosevelt County has died from the H1N1 influenza virus, also known as the swine flu.
State health officials announced the death this morning. It is the first death in Montana to be linked to H1N1 flu.
The age and gender of the victim, who had underlying medical problems, were not released.
Since May, health officials have confirmed 133 cases of H1N1 flu in the state, although it is thought that many more people have been sickened by the virus.
Nationally, 353 deaths have been attributed to swine flu, most of which were linked to other medical conditions.
For most people, a case of H1N1 flu is similar to seasonal flu, which kills 36,000 Americans a year.
