    Flu kills second Nebraskan

LINCOLN - A woman from Adams County, Neb., has died from H1N1 influenza, the state's second death from the strain.

The woman, who was 50 years old, had several chronic, underlying health conditions, including asthma, heart disease and diabetes according to officials with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

    She was not further identified.

?My condolences to her family and friends,? said Dr. Joann Schaefer, the state's chief medical officer. ?H1N1 can be a very serious illness for those who have chronic health conditions, such as heart disease and asthma, or who have compromised immune systems.?

?Loss of life is tragic, and our sympathies go out to her family,? said Michele Bever, executive director of the South Heartland District Health Department. ?Unfortunately, H1N1 influenza is circulating in Adams and surrounding counties, and we expect more cases of illness now that school is in session.?
