Kuwaiti reported to have died of swine flu
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: A Kuwaiti allegedly suffering from swine flu, died at the Sabah Hospital, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The family and doctors at the hospital are said to have confirmed that the man was suffering from the flu for one week. They also said the man did not have any other malady and his health condition was good before he showed the symptoms of swine flu.
However, the remains of the man have been referred to Forensics to determine the exact cause of death.
There is fear among the residents the virus is fatal.
Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Ibrahim Abdulhadi said laboratory tests will determine the real cause of the death.
Meanwhile, Kuwait University (KU) is facing major challenges for the next academic year; the increasing number of the admissions and swine flu, Rector Dr. Abdullah Al-Feheid said Sunday.
The admitted need utmost assistance in order for them to continue with their academic life, Al-Feheid said in a statement.
As for swine flu, he carried on; the university is following required procedures to face it, where a special committee was formed to mainly tackle the issue from a preventive angle.
In another development, the Assistant Undersecretary of the General Education Department at the Ministry of Education Mona Al-Logahni has asserted that schools that have reported swine flu cases will not be shut down without a recommendation by the Ministry of Health, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
In a press statement, Al-Logahni said the Ministry has taken all the necessary measures to tackle the virus and is prepared to fight it. She also unveiled a five-year plan with respect to the development of the General Education Department.
On the other hand, Al-Logahni also lauded the decision to appoint only female staff for the primary section.
