Second Hernando resident dies from H1N1 virus

BROOKSVILLE - A second Hernando County resident has died from the H1N1 swine flu virus, the Hernando County Health Department announced on Monday.
The latest victim is a 53-year-old woman who was out of the town when she was hospitalized on Sept. 14, according to health officials. The woman, whose name was not released, died on Saturday. She had chronic underlying health conditions, officials said.
"We are saddened by the news of the loss of one of our community members. Our prayers are with her family and friends" said Elizabeth Callaghan, Health Department administrator.
A 40-year-old Hernando County man died on July 16 from the virus.
As of Sept. 29, there have been 102 laboratory confirmed cases of H1N1 flu-related deaths in Florida.
