Comanche Co. man's death likely swine flu related

    Associated Press - October 8, 2009 8:05 AM ET

LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - Health officials in Comanche County say swine flu complications likely led to the death of a Comanche County man.

The man's name and age were not released.

The county's health department says the man died Wednesday and that he had other medical conditions that put him at increased risk of complications from swine flu.

The death would be at least the fifth in Oklahoma related to swine flu - also known as the H1N1 virus.

County health departments across the state began distributing the first batch of 21,100 doses of vaccinations this week. Another 44,000 doses are expected to arrive in Oklahoma next week.

Another Oklahoma life is claimed by what is likely the H1N1 influenza, this time in Texoma.

Comanche County Health Department officials said yesterday (October 7th) a man with underlying medical conditions died from influenza.

A rapid flu test was positive for influenza and officials are still waiting on confirmation if the virus was, in fact, H1N1.
