The State Veterinary Service at the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry informed Trend that the monitoring will last until November 19, 2006.

    The monitoring will be held twice a month in connection with the migration of birds. The monitoring is carried out by a commission comprised of specialists of the State Service, the Health Ministry, the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, the Society of Hunters and the Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.

    The monitoring will be held in the national parks, reserves, and coastal zone of the Caspian Sea.

    The State Service also points out that up to date, no bird death facts from bird flue have been detected on the territory of Azerbaijan.

    In order to prevent the penetration of this virus to the country, all the veterinary frontier points are working in a medium security. The ban on fowling, selling, and eating wild birds in the country, as well as ban on importation of poultry and chicken foods from those countries where the cases on deaths from these disease that has been registered, still holds.
