Dodge County reports first H1N1 death
    By Colleen Kottke ? The Reporter ckottke@fdlreporter.com ? November 6, 2009

JUNEAU ? Dodge County has recorded its first fatality from the H1N1 influenza virus.

The Dodge County Human Services and Health Department was alerted on Wednesday by the state Department of Health that the death of a local woman over the weekend was attributed to the widespread virus.
"The loss of a loved one for anyone is heartbreaking," said Dodge County Public Health Officer Jody Langfeldt in a press release.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends during this difficult time.
"Due to patient confidentiality laws, the name, age and hometown of the victim is not being released, Langfeldt said.
"For most people, the 2009 H1N1 flu is not severe. However, we know that the virus can be especially dangerous for children, individuals with compromised immune systems and those with chronic health illnesses," Langfeldt said.
"We believe that the victim had an underlying health condition but I can't confirm that."

I believe that this is a Wisconsin death.
