    One Vaccine Batch in "Quarantine"
    Friday, 20 November 2009

Manitoba health officials are raising concerns about a particular lot of the H1N1 vaccine.

They say they've noticed severe allergic reactions at a higher rate than usual for vaccinations.

Severe reactions are at one in 20-thousand, when the normal rate is one in 100-thousand.

Because of this, GlaxoSmithKline is requesting to provincial governments to stop using doses from that particular lot, which was shipped out in late October.

Saskatoon Health Region Deputy Medical Health Officer, Dr. Ross Findlater, says there was some of this batch delivered to various health regions in Saskatchewan, but not to the Saskatoon Health Region, so it's not an issue for this area.

Manitoba's chief medical officer says he wants to assure people the risk of any adverse effects from the vaccine is very low.
