  • Ukraine MOH: Daily Counts: 1,128 total

Would someone please post the chart at the link here? Of note is that the math error from yesterday has been corrected, but Lviv which was at 92 yesterday, is reporting one more death today, for a total of 92. Perhaps they mean 93, in which case the total would be 363, or perhaps this is a re-reporting of one of yesterday's deaths, in which case there were only 6 new deaths.

Lviv is now down to about 1,600 in hospital, having discharged over 83% of its hospitalizations. Only 35 people total are on respirators, including just 5 in Lviv.

I think we at FT should now close the large 550+ post Ukraine thread and post separate things in separate threads, as we do for other countries. Perhaps sequence issues in one thread, counts in another, firsthand stories separately, etc.

Re: Ukraine reports 7 more deaths, 362 total

And a new chart at that link, with a report of 11 more deaths, to toal 374. Also, Dnipropetrovsk oblast has increased from 5 deaths to 6, but did not report a new death, so maybe there were 12 more deaths. The total of 374 though is the correct sum of the oblasts now. I suspect Lviv yesterday just accidentally double counted or double reported a death, because today they reported 2 more for a total of 94, so they must have had 92 yesterday, and the total would be 362 yesterday, not 363 (unless the excess death in Dnipropetrovsk had already happened yesterday). Perhaps the issue is not a math error, but the result of changing the characterization of people who died away from home (i.e. was from Lviv but died in Dnipropetrovsk)?

Another chart at the above link, now through the 22nd. Seven more deaths for a total of 381, but spread across 6 oblasts. Lviv now has only 1,504 in hospital, of which only 4 are on ventilators, now having discharged over 85% of its hospitalizations. Only 27 on ventilator total across Ukraine now.

And no numerical discrepancies this time. It seems they have a new font and format for the chart, as well.

Can we just change this thread to: Daily Counts from the Ukraine MOH?

Update: Thank you for the change. I intend to post the links to the daily charts in this thread.

Re: Ukraine MOH: Daily Counts: 381 total

MOH today is reporting 8 more deaths for a total of 388. Since we were at 381 yesterday, I am looking to see the discrepancy.

Re: Ukraine MOH: Daily Counts: 381 total

I found it. Oblast #22 is reporting one more death today, but their count remains at 21. I suspect the correct death toll should be 389. Either that or the one death is a repeat, and there are only seven new deaths today.

Lviv is now down to 1,349 in hospital, having discharged another large chunk today. Only 23 are now on ventilators (down four from yesterday), including just 3 in Lviv. Notably, Lviv did not report a death today, so the patient removed from ventilator is apparently recovering.

The total number in hospital is about 27,000, of whom 213 are in ICU. Also of note is that Ivano-Frankivsk dropped from 34 in ICU to 27 without reporting a death, so those seven patients appear to be recovering as well.

Nine more deaths today, including one pregnant woman, for a total of 397. No discrepancies today. A large increase in discharges (Lviv is now down to 1,127 in hospital), and down to 180 total in ICU. According to http://www.kyivpost.com/news/nation/detail/53517/, Lviv had 373 discharges in the past 24 hours, compared to 151 admissions.

Presumably, the extra reported death yesterday was a double count or an error, as that oblast did not report a death today as is still at 21 deaths.

Someone in Lviv who was on a ventilator has been weaned from it, as there are now only 2 on ventilator in Lviv. On the other hand, someone else was put on a ventilator in Ivano-Frankivsk, as they now have 6 on ventilator, up from 5 yesterday.

The situation with influenza-threatening: in January, will fall even tens of thousands
The situation with the epidemic of influenza and acute respiratory infections (ARI) in Kiev is stabilized, but the second wave of the epidemic can be fixed in late December - early January next year.

Such forward-looking doctors announced Tuesday at a meeting of the Kyiv city council of churches and religious organizations in Kyiv Mayor Deputy Chief of the Health and Care of Kyiv City State Administration Vitaliy Muharam.

According to him, may also be a third wave of the epidemic - in Kiev, it should be expected in the autumn of next year.

"During the period of the epidemic chickenpox than 128 thousand people of Kiev - is a little more than 4% of the officially registered population of Kiev. Of seasonal influenza chickenpox 5200 people. During this time, were hospitalized 2,5% of the patients. To date, discharged about 2 / 3 hospitalized. The situation is stabilized, "- said Muharam, Interfax-Ukraine".

He also stressed that in 88 cases of laboratory confirmed the presence of influenza virus A/H1N1 (California). "The epidemiological threshold in Kiev still exceeds the performance standards in 1,3 times", - summed up the official, adding that the first wave of the epidemic has passed. http://for-ua.com/politics/2009/11/25/035320.html

Re: Ukraine MOH: Daily Counts: 397 total

Seven more deaths today to 404 total. A whole mess of discharges (about 9,000 countrywide), reducing the hospitalization count in Lviv to under 1,000. One of the ventilated patients in Ivano-Frankivsk (a pregnant woman, I believe) has died, increasing that oblast's death toll to 42, and decreasing the number on ventilators in that oblast to 5. Three more ICU patients in Lviv have recovered enough to leave ICU, reducing the number in ICU there to 17.

There are 21 on ventilators across the country, but only in eight oblasts. Notably, Zaporizhia, oblast #8, had a very small outbreak (only three deaths so far, fewer than 1,500 hospitalizations), now has five people on ventilator, as many as any other oblast. This is probably just coincidence, but might be a sign that that oblast is about to have a larger outbreak.

Ten more deaths to 414 total. Down to 157 total in ICU. Both oblasts that had 5 on respirator reported one death (#43 in Ivano-Frankivsk, #4 in Zaporizhia), reducing them to four on respirator each. Kyiv now has five on respirator. Lviv is down to 15 in ICU, only one on respirator, so two more patients in Lviv have left ICU.

Lviv is down to 828 in hospital, after discharging another big batch.

Re: Ukraine MOH: Daily Counts: 404 total

Three more deaths, to 417 total. One of those deaths is in Lviv, making 95 total. Despite that death, one person remains on ventilator in Lviv (so either someone else was ventilated, or the death was not the person on ventilator yesterday). Another big batch of discharges, and Lviv now has just 670 in hospital. Ivano-Frankivsk (44 deaths so far including one today) discharged nearly 500 patients today, reducing them to fewer than 1,600 in hospital. The death in Ivano-Frankivsk was likely one of the people on respirator yesterday, as there are now only three on respirator in that oblast. Four remain on ventilator in Zaporizhia, but the number in ICU there has increased from 8 yesterday to 12 today.

Kyiv is back down to four on respirator (without reporting a death, so that is a recovery), and the total number on respirators is now 15. The total number in ICU is down to 146. Since there is evidence (in the oblast-by-oblast counts) of at least a dozen new ICU admissions, at least 20 people recovered enough to leave ICU in the past 24 hours.

I haven't posted yesterday's counts here, but yesterday was five more deaths to 422, and today is two more to 424 total. There are now 167 in ICU, 14 of them on ventilators. The total number in hospital is about 24,000. The numbers have stabilized - I suspect this is about seasonal baseline.

There was no MOH update on the 30th, and the update on December 1st shows nine more deaths for a total of 440 (meaing 11/30 would have been seven more deaths for a total of 431). Three of the nine deaths are in Donetsk, bringing the counts there to 32.

Most of the oblasts are now below the epidemic threshhold. The total number in hospital is a little under 24,000. The total number in ICU is 129, 14 of them on respirators. Lviv, now with 96 deaths (they must have had one yesterday) has about 450 people in hospital, of which 7 are in ICU, but NO ONE is on a ventilator in Lviv.

In Zaporizhia, the fatality counts remains at 4, and one of the four on respirator has been removed from respirator, leaving three patients on respirators.
