Santa Fe officer dies of leukemia, H1N1

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Fe police officer has died from complications due to the H1NI1 virus and an acute form of leukemia.
Thirty-9-year-old Jason Hill was diagnosed with leukemia in August 2008 and was given three months to live. But Hill received extensive treatments, including a bone marrow transplant, and doctors told him in April that the cancer was in remission.
But Santa Fe police Chief Aric Wheeler says Hill's leukemia returned in October and that his health had been steadily declining since. Hill also was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, pneumonia and bronchitis in October.
Wheeler says Hill died Saturday at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas.
He is survived by his wife, Annemarie Hill, and four children.
