Sanofi Q1 2010 Results
On pensait la grippe A/H1N1 terminée avec son flux de commande de vaccins et de dispositifs. Il n’en est rien. A l’occasion de la publication de ses résultats du premier trimestre 2010, Chris Viehbacher (visuel ci-contre) annonce que le groupe français Sanofi-Aventis a vendu pour 413 millions d'euros de vaccins anti H1N1, soit plus qu'au dernier trimestre 2009. Mais ce n’est pas tout, le groupe poursuit sa croissance, avec son renforcement, entre autres acquisitions et partenariats sur l’immense marché du diabète.

Un booster, les ventes de vaccins H1N1: Au total, le chiffre d'affaires du groupe Sanofi a atteint 7,385 milliards d'euros au premier trimestre (+ 3,9%), pour un bénéfice net de 1,714 milliard, (+ 8,6%). A. Viehbacher indique : «Au premier trimestre, le chiffre d’affaires de nos plateformes de croissance a connu une progression à deux chiffres, soutenue par les récentes acquisitions ciblées ainsi que les ventes de vaccins A/H1N1. Ce bon début d’année qui bénéficie de l’effet non-récurrent du vaccin A/H1N1 est en ligne avec notre objectif de résultat pour 2010. Si une partie des vaccins commandés par la France a été résiliée, Sanofi a été indemnisé à hauteur de deux millions d'euros pour les commandes de vaccins annulées soit à hauteur de 16% de la valeur. “La grippe” dans son ensemble reste un marché très juteux, avec un chiffre d’affaires des vaccins Grippe de 450 millions d’euros, contre 63 millions d’euros au premier trimestre de 2009…

Une année particulière: Selon Chris Viehbacher, de les résultats ne se répèteront pas dans les années à venir. La grippe A/H1N1 a profité au CA du groupe ainsi que le développement de l’activité Santé Grand Public avec l’acquisition de Chattem aux Etats-Unis et la création d’un nouveau leader mondial de la Santé animale avec l’acquisition de Mérial.

Des princeps en fin de course ? La tombée dans le domaine public d’Eloxatine® aux
Etats-Unis et de Plavix® en Europe pouvait faire craindre une baisse du chiffres d’affaires qui croît néanmoins de près de 6% ce trimestre. Mais il n’en est rien : La présence mondiale de Plavix® progresse de 2,5%, pour s’établir à 1 655 millions d’euros. En Europe, la concurrence des génériques a certes eu un effet négatif sur les ventes qui reculent de 43,5 %, à 253 millions d’euros mais en revanche, en mars 2010, l’Office des brevets américain, (USPTO), a confirmé, la validité du brevet de Plavix® à l’issue d’une procédure de réexamen.

Le lancement de Multaq® aux Etats-Unis a été conforme aux attentes, a obtenu un avis favorable en Angleterre – mais reste toujours en suspens en France-. Néanmoins, le chiffre d’affaires de ce premier antiarythmique ayant démontré un bénéfice clinique dans la réduction des hospitalisations d’origine cardiovasculaire liées à la fibrillation atriale, s’établit sur ce trimestre à 24 millions d’euros dont 20 aux Etats-Unis et 4 en Europe.

Et…le segment du diabète : Mais c’est certainement le renforcement de la position du groupe français sur le segment énorme du diabète, avec son partenariat avec AgaMatrix sur les appareils de surveillance de la glycémie, et son accord mondial pour Pancreate™, un «restaurateur d’insuline » avec CureDM (premier traitement potentiel de médecine régénérative dans le diabète) qui ouvre de nouveaux horizons. En attendant, le chiffre d’affaires de la Division Diabète progresse de 11 % au premier trimestre pour s’inscrire à 971 millions d’euros, grâce à la croissance à deux chiffres des ventes de Lantus®, Apidra® et Amaryl®.

Enfin, fabricant de “ses propres gébériques”, Sanofi affiche, sur ce secteur, un chiffre d’affaires en hausse de plus de 250% qui traduit l’intégration réussie des acquisitions réalisées en 2009.
