Alerta epidemiológica en Bolivia por gripe A/H1N1

La Paz - Bolivia.- El Ministerio de Salud, a través de la Unidad Nacional de Epidemiología, declaró la alerta nacional epidemiológica por la nueva influenza humana AH1N1, confirmó a Enlared-Onda Local el responsable de Epidemiología, René Lennis. Hasta la fecha, en seis departamentos, fueron confirmados por laboratorio 32 casos de la enfermedad y existen 967 sospechosos.



“Vemos que el virus H1N1 ha pasado a ser uno más respiratorios que circulan en nuestro país; tenemos que aprender a convivir con este virus, por lo tanto, era previsible que en cualquier momento se presentaran casos en nuestro medio”, señaló Lennis.



El último fue reportado en Cochabamba, se trata de una mujer de 29 años de edad, sumándose a ello 967 casos sospechosos.



Asimismo, informó que la paciente se encuentra en tratamiento ambulatorio, es decir, que permanece en su domicilio con los cuidados respectivos y que muestra una evolución favorable.



Respecto a casos en la ciudad de La Paz, que actualmente registra el mayor número de contagiados con la influenza en el país, Lenis se refirió a las dos últimas personas contagiadas, quienes se encuentran en terapia intensiva, un niño de un año de edad y otra persona de 64, donde ambos tienen una evolución favorable.



Con este último caso reportado en Cochabamba, suman 32 casos de gripe AH1N1 oficializados en el país, hasta el martes de la semana 29, donde seis corresponden al departamento de Santa Cruz, dos a Beni, ahora dos en Cochabamba y 22 en el departamento de La Paz, dentro de ello 14 pertenecen a la ciudad de La Paz y ocho a El Alto.



RECOMENDACIONES



En ese marco, Lenis recomendó a la población en general, retomar las medidas preventivas que ya se conocen desde el año pasado y que a su vez no se están cumpliendo. Aseveró que es importante su aplicación para evitar más propagación de la influenza, de tal manera que se descarte una segunda ola de epidemia.



Las recomendaciones básicas e importantes son que al toser o estornudar, la persona debe cubrirse la nariz y la boca con un pañuelo, mucho mejor si es desechable para eliminarlo en un lugar seguro, también lavarse las manos con abundante agua y jabón de manera frecuente.



Asimismo, evitar el saludo de manos y de besos. “Debemos acostumbrarnos a estos hábitos por lo menos en esta etapa de alerta que estamos viviendo, también es recomendable no asistir innecesariamente a lugares concurridos y aglomerados, son recomendaciones básicas e importantes”, indicó.



SINTOMAS



Así también, el jefe de Epidemiología recordó los principales síntomas de la influenza, entre ellos: fiebre, tos, dolor de garganta, dolor muscular y articular de forma intensa. Exhortó a las personas que presenten estos síntomas asistir a los centros de salud para hacer la consulta respectiva.



En ese sentido, pidió a la población no alarmarse debido a que el virus de la gripe AH1N1 ha pasado a ser una infección respiratoria más, al igual que los otros virus respiratorios que circulan en nuestro medio como de la influenza estacional A, B, entre otros, Lenis afirmó que este virus vino para quedarse y la población debe aprender a convivir con este virus, tal como se hizo con las otras influenzas.



VACUNACION



Hasta la anterior semana la cobertura de vacunaciones alcanzaba al 72 por ciento, es decir, que de cada 100 personas se vacunaron 72, pero de acuerdo al informe que elabora el Programa de Ampliación de Inmunización (PAI), en estos últimos días existe un incremento de la demanda de la vacuna.



“Se están formando algunas colas en diferentes centros de salud y esto es bueno porque las personas deben vacunarse para protegerse del virus A/H1N1, tenemos 400 mil dosis más para aplicar”, informó Lenis.



Lenis, afirmó también que Bolivia está mejor preparada para enfrentar una segunda ola de gripe AH1N1 porque dispone de un número importante de vacunas contra el virus.



Precisó que el Ministerio de Salud enfatizará en campañas informativas para que la ciudadanía practique las medidas profilácticas, como el lavado continuo de manos y la etiqueta de la tos a fin de evitar la propagación de la enfermedad.



En 2009 el Ministerio de Salud reportó más de 2.500 casos confirmados de influenza AH1N1 y 59 fallecimientos en Bolivia.
