    The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is investigating a confirmed case of Legionnaires' Disease.

    The patient is a 55-year-old man with underlying medical conditions.

    The patient had presented with fever, cough and muscle pain since October 14 and was admitted to a private hospital on October 20. He is now in stable condition.

    The patient travelled to Macau during the incubation period. His home contact is asymptomatic. His urine sample tested positive for Legionella bacteria.

    The CHP's investigation is on-going.

    Seventeen cases of Legionnaires' Disease have been reported to the CHP so far this year. Thirty-seven cases were reported in 2009, 13 in 2008 and 11 in 2007.
