Re: Indonesia - Sumatra - 16 children monitored after bird flu outbreak

Over the past few years, more and more children around the world are being infected with H5N1. So 16 sick children in Indonesia exhibiting possible H5N1 influenza symptoms is a serious concern. Especially when, as noted in the media report, they were identified within a 1 km radius of the H5N1 poultry outbreak.

The map below shows the approximate location the outbreak at Desa Srigeni Lama, Kecamatan Kayu Agung, Kelurahan Kayuagung, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir, Sumatera Selatan, on the island of Sumatra (-3.3564404, 104.8544839). The first map shows the general location of Desa Srigeni Lama in relation to Palembang in south central Sumatra, the second map shows a 1 km radius around the village.
