The flu is stabilized after its peak in February

    08/03 12:33 pm ? Virginia Gonz?lez ?
The evolution of influenza in the current season in Huelva is within normal parameters after the abnormal behavior of the past year by the presence of H1N1 virus, better known as influenza A. Thus, the flu and has stabilized after reaching its peak during the month of February, as anticipated by the Office of Health, reached in epidemiological week 6 schedule (6 to 12 February) to 161 cases per 100,000 population , a figure even lower than previous seasons (2008 or 2009), as expected a rate of 300 cases.

After the rally, the rate fell to 117 cases per 100,000 population in week 7 (from 13 to 19 February), to experiment at week 8 a sharp decline, encrypting the incidence of flu in the province of Huelva in 37 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

However, although the forecast is that the flu continues its downward trend, expect a slight rebound in weeks 9 and 10 (from 27 February to 12 March), of which there are no data yet. However, all indications are that already has reached the peak of the flu.

    Path
Taking into account the figures from earlier this year, you can see perfectly the curve of the evolution of influenza. Thus, in week 1 of epidemiological calendar (from 2 to 8 January), there were 22 cases per 100,000 population in week 2 increased to 105, while at week 3 the figure rose to 124. In 4, the rate stood at 156 cases to drop a bit in week 5 to 141 cases.

So far, according to data from the Office of Health, the cumulative rate during the first eight weeks of follow-up is 910 cases per 100,000 population. This figure includes the sum of all cases reported so far during the campaign.

    74,600 trivalent Huelva
Health centers in the province began in early October 2010 the vaccination campaign of the flu, with news that a trivalent vaccine was administered, ie, to protect both the influenza A virus as to two other strains -a second type A and one type B-which are those that have been circulating in the Southern Hemisphere and is also currently circulating in Europe.

In total, the Ministry of Health took 74,610 shots for the province of Huelva, in a joint investment of 8.3 billion euros in Andalusia.

The campaign for the 2010-2011 season has been directed primarily to those over 65 years, even if they are healthy, people of any age with chronic health problems in which the disease can have serious consequences, including severe breathing problems or heart, cancer and immune system disorders or metabolic diseases, to people who are in frequent contact with this group and to health and community services, both for their own protection and to avoid the risk of contagion. All these people are the target population that this campaign also includes pregnant women.
