A meningitis alert has been issued by health chiefs after an outbreak of the illness at two nursery schools.
About 250 children and staff have been given antibiotics as a precaution.
At Fairfield Nursery in Leigh, two children developed a meningococcal infection within a month of each other.
This came after two children at the Best Friends Private Day Nursery in Tyldesley were treated in hospital for the bug. Six weeks earlier another child at the nursery was identified as having the infection but recovered...
