  • Japan - Revised Readings at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant - Reactor 2

NHK World is reporting that reactor #2 has readings 10 million times the normal. http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/27_12.html
UPDATE: NHK World reporting Tepco officials are retracting original readings. Levels high, but not as high as originally stated. http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/27_24.html

Re: Japan - Error in Readings 10 Million Times Normal at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant - Reactor 2?

        Thank you everyone.

They have announced this level as a mistake but do not have a corrected reading yet since the employee left the area.

"He said officials were taking another sample to get accurate levels, but did not know when the results would be announced."

Re: Japan - Revised Readings at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant - Reactor 2

              Press Release (Mar 27,2011)
The results of the measurement of puddle of water in the basement of the turbine building of Unit 2 of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station(2nd release)

With regard to the captioned result of the measurement that was previously
announced, we have judged that the estimation concerning the measured
              value of ionide-134 was wrong.
Therefore we informed that we would take, analyze and evaluate samples,
and announce the results once we have summarized the results.
              (previously announced http://www.tepco.co.jp/en/press/corp...1032713-e.html )

Since then we have taken samples and analyzed and evaluated the density
of the gamma nuclide including iodine-134, and now we announce the summary
of the results of the measurements as shown in the attachment.

Re: Japan - Revised Readings at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant - Reactor 2

NHK World reporting that a trench outside the #2 reactor turbine building has surface level radiation readings of over 1,000 mSv/hr. The trench measures 4 meters x 3 meters. Since readings are similar to readings inside the building, they are assuming the water came from the turbine building.
