Vaccine are lacking - for disease prevention for livestock and poultry

... The important thing, when the diseases are still complicated, the use of vaccines are showing signs of drug-resistant virus, which is not high rates of protection. The Ministry has directed the Institute for Animal Health rapidly and reporting research results. Before this fact, Deputy Minister Diep Kinh Tan said that while no final conclusions on the results of the protection of bird flu vaccine, the province, the appearance of avian influenza needs thorough quarantine, stamping services to reduce the damage, if not, the consequences would be incalculable. ...

    Disease vaccine for cattle, poultry
    Updated 01:52, Friday, 29/04/2011 (GMT +7)
So far this year from bird flu, and Mouth Disease (FMD), blue ear disease has occurred in the area hundreds of communes and towns in over 40 provinces and cities nationwide. Although the branches and localities have more drastic measures to quarantine, stamping services, but is still seven provinces with avian flu in 17 provinces and cities have FMD outbreak 21 days.

Besides the main cause is the sense of prevention of the poultry industry and government facilities in some localities still subjective, neglect, lack of vaccines, and vaccine virus 'drug glands' are difficult problem in the implementation of prevention today. From 2009 and earlier, type avian influenza virus disease is common in southern Clad1, while the north is Clad 2.3.4. But this year, a new virus strain is 2.3.2 Clad appeared in both regions.

A nomenclature for phylogenetic relationships among the haemagglutinin (HA) genes of influenza A(H5N1) viruses was devised in consultation with representatives of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Organisation for Animal Health and WHO. This nomenclature is updated when novel genetic clades emerge; the nomenclature can be found at (LINK).

Viruses characterized from 23 September 2009 to 17 February 2010 belonged to the clades listed below.
      • Clade 1 viruses were detected in poultry in Cambodia. Genetic characterization of these viruses showed that they were closely related to clade 1 viruses previously circulating in the country (Fig. 1). No antigenic data are available.
      • Clade 2.2 viruses were detected in poultry in Nepal. Genetically these viruses were very similar to viruses previously detected in the region (Fig. 1). No antigenic data are available.
      • Clade 2.2.1 viruses continue to circulate in poultry in Egypt; there is sporadic transmission to humans. Viruses isolated during this period were genetically similar to those isolated during 2008 and 2009 (Fig. 1). Data are not available on the antigenic properties of the recent poultry viruses, but isolates from humans are antigenically similar to the clade 2.2.1 reference vaccine virus A/Egypt/321/2007 (Table 2) as measured by haemagglutination inhibition.
      • Clade 2.3.2 viruses were detected in wild birds in China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Hong Kong SAR); in the Russian Federation; and in poultry in Nepal and Viet Nam. These viruses were genetically similar to clade 2.3.2 viruses isolated in previous years (Fig. 1). Antigenically, the virus from Hong Kong SAR reacted to antiserum to the clade 2.3.2 reference vaccine virus A/Common Magpie/Hong Kong/5052/2007, albeit with reduced haemagglutination inhibition titres when compared with the homologous antigen (data not shown).
      • Clade 2.3.4 viruses were detected in poultry in Viet Nam. These viruses formed 2 distinct genetic subclades within the 2.3.4 clade (Fig. 1). Viruses from 1 of these subclades reacted well to postinfection ferret antiserum raised against the reference vaccine virus A/Anhui/1/2005 (data not shown); antigenic data are not available for the other subclade.

Vietnam - Poultry not highly protected by Chinese Re-1 vaccine

        20/April/2011
Dam Xuan Thanh, Deputy Director of Animal Health (MARD) said that currently there are six provinces (Quang Ngai Province, Tien Giang, Dak Lak, Ha Nam, Bac Kan and Quang Tri) with outbreaks in poultry less than 21 days. However, what is worrisome are pathogenic strain variation, making use of vaccines are produced by the Chinese Re-1are not highly protected.

Department of Animal Health: Still testing

While avian influenza (CGC) is raging everywhere from early 2011 until now, the H5N1 vaccine to vaccinate poultry in the country has not been implemented. Farmers are very impatient, "anxiously" vaccines from sources in the Self-supporting care services paid for CGC fear hanging over the head.

The year NNVN yesterday, Mr Hoang Van Nam - Director of Animal Health authorities said the deployment of vaccination in 2011 CGC to date has more than 2 months later than planned. The reason for this delay, he said the recent year in the North Branch has discovered a new virus CGC. Therefore, the Department of Animal Health are testing the protective effects of new vaccines should be vaccinated CGC deployment has been slowed in 2011 compared to the plan.

Transformation of avian influenza vaccination stopped Vietnam
            Nam Nguyen, RFA reporter
            2011-05-08

First time in many years, Vietnam has no bird flu vaccines appropriate to vaccinate more than two hundred million chickens and ducks, while the risk of H5N1 among never actually regressive.

Agriculture Online newspaper described "farmer neck strain vaccine," noted the status of farmers in Henan urgent because half years did not see the local vets to vaccinate chickens ducks their consequences are many households have been H5N1 outbreaks make things stand, lost an upcoming litter poultry barn.
            Are testing new vaccines

The newspaper quoted Dr. Hoang Van Nam Department of Animal Health authorities confirm plans bird flu vaccination in 2011 was 2 months later than planned. The head of veterinary services, said North Branch has discovered a new bird flu virus, the Department of Veterinary Medicine are testing the protective effects of new vaccines should not be able to implement vaccination.

Previously under the National Electricity Emergency Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat is not the import of vaccines for avian influenza virus circulating in Vietnam has changed, new strains of H5N1 vaccine by China-Re5 produced no conclusions about the effect.

Dr. Van Dang Ky: The Transformation of the virus is not very big, but the new branch is the branch detection, virus H5N1 clade 2.2, 2.3 it divides into two branches, one of two branches, the new vaccine in China Re 5 may be appropriate but not the other branch, we do not buy into that. We are selecting vaccines, if they find a better vaccine, of course we still deploy vaccination. This is a very important issue in the use of a vaccine.

Vietnam halts bird flu vaccination due to new type

(Reuters) - The Vietnamese government said it had halted the nationwide vaccination of poultry against bird flu, saying a new type of the H5N1 virus had rendered the vaccine ineffective.

"Based on post-vaccination surveillance results, a new clade of the H5N1 virus has appeared in Vietnam since 2010," the government said in a statement issued late on Thursday.

Vietnam had planned to use a vaccine imported from China for its vaccination this year, but the vaccine did not work against the new variety, the Animal Health Department said.

The new type has been circulating in northern provinces, coastal provinces in the central region as well as in the Central Highlands, it said.

The old type of the virus remains active in southern provinces, it said in a report this week.

Vietnam first detected the H5N1 virus in poultry in 2003. The virus has since infected 553 people in 15 countries and killed 323, most of them in Asia, including 59 in Vietnam, based on a World Health Organization tally.

Health experts fear the disease could mutate to a form that could be easily transmitted between humans. Almost all of the human H5N1 infections to date are believed to have passed from birds to humans.

Vietnam has detected no human cases of bird flu in 2011 but several provinces across the country have reported outbreaks in ducks and chickens.

New clade of H5N1 virus found

The Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported on the action mechanism of clade 2.3.2 avian influenza virus (H5N1) in northern provinces.

The experiments with the new virus clade showed that 100 percent of tested chickens died in three days and 20 percent of tested ducks died within seven days. Considering the severe effects that the virus has on chickens, the Government agreed to postpone vaccination against the avian influenza H5N1 due to the fact that the vaccine does not work against the new type of virus.

The Veterinary Department is seeking the suitable vaccine against the virus and will issue detailed instructions to northern provinces.

For avian influenza, according to the latest experimental results of the Veterinary Department, is clade 2.3.2 virus branch danger has been present in our country. This new branch virus currently circulating across much of North, Central Coast and Highlands alternative to the old 2.3.4 branch virus. With this branch of avian influenza virus, after the virulent intensity, had 100% mortality within 3 days and 20% of the ducks died within 7 days. So can see, this new branch is toxic to the virus and less toxic chicken with duck, while the older branch of avian influenza virus can kill 60 to 70% duck. Especially this new branch virus has rapidly transformed and developed into two tributaries, with major differences in antigen. Tributary of a widely circulated in almost every province and two tributaries only detected in two provinces of Nam Dinh and Thai Binh. More worryingly, the experimental results of the Veterinary Department of the validity of the H5N1 vaccine-Re5 shows the effect of protection against new virus is very low branches, almost no effect. The bird flu vaccine used in our country mainly imports, which, mostly from China. To prevent avian influenza virus clade 2.3.2 This new branch, at present, China is studying the H5N1 vaccine-Re6, but so far no experimental results.

..With regard to avian influenza, according to the latest experiment of veterinary medicine, the new virus is dangerous 2.3.2 Clade were present in our country. This new branch of viruses are circulating in almost all provinces in Northern, Central Coast and the Highlands as a replacement for the old virus clade 2.3.4. With the bird flu virus branch, after the major pathogenic, had 100% of the chicks die within 3 days and 20% of the ducks died within 7 days. So can see, this new virus is very toxic and less toxic than with the ducks, meanwhile, the bird flu virus can cause dead former 60 to 70%. Especially this new branch of the virus was quickly converted and developed into two branches, there are big differences in terms of Antigen. Branch 1 circulating widely in most provinces and branch 2 was only discovered in the South and the Pacific. More troubling, the test results of the Bureau of veterinary vaccines on the effect of the H5N1 virus ? Re5 shows protective effect against this new virus is very low, almost no effect. Current influenza vaccines used in our country mainly imports, in particular, most of which are from China. In order to prevent virus influenza new Clade 2.3.2 today, China is in researching vaccines H5N1-Re6 but to date no test results... http://www.microsofttranslator.com/B...x%3Fid%3D33577
