BERHAMPUR: Tension prevails with suspected chikungunya spreading in Dharakote block of Ganjam district.
It was reported a week back, when people started complaining of fever and swelling in joints. Receiving information, a team of health officials rushed to the affected villages. Though the officials claim to have initiated preventive measures, people alleged that the disease is spreading fast. They said chikungunya broke out in Gadadamadarpalli where it has affected 151 persons so far.On Thursday, 20 similar cases were reported from Gudiali village. CDMO Surya Kiran Patnaik said blood samples had been sent for test and reports are awaited.
