Chagas Disease Carriers Migrating Into South Texas
CORPUS CHRISTI - An insect carrying a potentially deadly disease could be migrating to the Coastal Bend.
The ailment, called Chagas Disease, is a parasite transmitted to victims by an insect that's migrating North toward the Coastal Bend.
We're talking about the "kissing bug," which scientists say carry the Chagas Disease in their excrement.
And though we're told the problem isn't here yet, there is cause for concern and increased protection.
Doctor William Burgin with the Nueces County Health Authority told us that border towns like Harlingen and Brownsville are already reporting cases of Chagas infections...
