    Weeks 40-43: No Activity

    Week 40: ILI 1.9% There was one influenza related Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission and no deaths reported for week 40.

    Week 41: ILI 1.8%

    Week 42: ILI 1.6%
    Febrile Respiratory Illness (FRI) surveillance at Naval Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes for this week is substantially elevated.

    During week 42, none of the specimens tested by Illinois Department of Public Health Laboratory were positive for influenza A or B.
    No influenza-associated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admissions were reported for week 42. This represents no change from the previous week.
    No influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported for week 42. This represents no change from week 41.

    On October 19th, 2011 a suspected influenza like illness [ILI] outbreak in a DuPage County elementary school was reported. Increased absenteeism was reported in one of the first grade classroom with 17 of 28 (61%) students ill. Siblings of the students in this first grade classroom are now beginning to display ILI symptoms. IDPH has sent test kits to the DuPage County Health Department for confirmation.

    DuPage County ILI Update:
    On October 19, 2011 a suspected influenza like illness (ILI) outbreak in a DuPage County elementary school was reported to IDPH. Increased absenteeism was reported in one of the first grade classrooms with peak absenteeism in 11 of 28 (39%) students ill on October 6. A total of 32 of 696 (5%) students at the school in multiple classrooms were associated with the cluster, and absenteeism is currently at baseline levels. There were no reported cases of hospitalization or staff illness, and surveillance is ongoing.

    Week 44: No Activity
    ILI: 1.7% compared with 1.5% for week 43.
    Febrile Respiratory Illness (FRI) surveillance at Naval Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes for week 44 is moderately elevated.
    During week 44, none of the specimens tested by Illinois Department of Public Health Laboratory were positive for influenza A or B.

            During CDC Week 48, the proportion of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI)was 1.2% compared with 2.0% for week 47.

            Febrile Respiratory Illness (FRI) surveillance at Naval Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes for week 48 is at or below expected value.

            During week 48, none of the specimens tested by Illinois Department of Public Health Laboratory were positive for influenza.

            There were no influenza-associated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admissions reported for week 48.
            No influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported for week 48.
            During week 48, no influenza outbreaks were reported.
