One person tests positive for swine flu in Puducherry

In the first such case this year, one person has tested positive for swine flu virus and has been admitted to the JIPMER in Puducherry, officials said.
"Intensive examination of another person is on," JIPMER sources said.
The two with flu symptoms were admitted today.

4 patients at JIPMER test positive for Swine Flu
Puducherry, Apr 11 : Four patients at the Jawharlal institute of Post Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) were diagnosed with Swine Flu.
According to JIPMER sources, a 21-year-old female from Villippuram, who was referred to JIPMER from Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences(PIMS), tested positive for H1N1.
A 29-year-old female, who came to the JIPMER OPD on April nine, also tested positive for the virus.
A 32-year-old female from Yettakkudi in Tamil Nadu, who came to JIPMER on April 7, also tested positive and subsequently moved out to a private hospital in Chennai, the sources said, adding on March 17, a 10-month-old female baby from Virdhachalam was also tested positive here.

MADURAI/PUDUCHERRY: A sexagenarian from Madurai and five persons from Puducherry, including one from Karaikal, have tested positive for H1N1.
In Madurai, Kaliammal (60) of Melamasi Street, who was admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital, tested positive for swine flu on Wednesday.
Kaliammmal was admitted to the hospital with cold and cough. Doctors sent her throat swabs for tests, which revealed she was infected with swine flu. She was kept in isolation at a ward in the hospital. It may be noted that, this is the first case testing positive for swine flu in Madurai this year.

Nine more persons test positive in Puducherry

Nine new patients tested positive for swine flu in Karaikal and Puducherry on Monday making it a total of 15 cases in the Union Territory. Eight of them hail from Karaikal and one in Puducherry.
Speaking to The Hindu, Deputy Director of Public Health V.V. Rao said one patient ? from Lawspet ? had been admitted to JIPMER for treatment, while the others were undertaking oral treatment.

PUDUCHERRY: Two elderly persons suffering from swine flu died in the Union Territory recently.
While a 55-year-old woman, Premalatha of Govindan Chettiar Thottam Vanarapet, who was getting treatment at JIPMER died on Saturday, an old man from Mudaliarpet also died at JIPMER a week earlier after contracting swine flu, confirmed K V Raman, director of health and family welfare. Both the persons had other health complications also, he added.
Premalatha had been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) as well as from dermatology problems, sources in JIPMER said. After testing positive for swine flu, she came to the JIPMER OPD where she was given 10 days of Tami flu and also put under ventilator support for some time.
