    Tripura airlifts medical teams to Dhalai district

    Tripura government has rushed four medical teams by helicopter to Longtorai valley in and Gandacherra in Dhalai where four persons have reportedly died following outbreak of gastroenteritis and water-borne disease, official sources said today.

    Four deaths were reported from remote Longtorai Valley and Gandacherra sub-division of the district in the past week where medical teams with paramedical staffs were dropped by helicopter yesterday to organise health camps, Director (Preventive Medicine) R K Dhar told reporters.

    AGARTALA: As many as 19 deaths, including that of six children, were reported from tribal-dominated remote villages of Longtari Valley sub-division in Tripura's Dhalai district.

    According to reports, viral fever, gastro-entities and meningococcal meningitis have been identified as the causes of deaths in the villages. Unhygienic lifestyle coupled with malnutrition are being blamed for the situation.

    AGARTALA: The Tripura government has sent three medical teams to the eastern part of the state by chopper on Friday after there were reports of outbreak of enteritis and other water-borne summer diseases there.
