Alabama 2012-13 Season: Weeks 42-20 (No New Pediatric Death; Total One) FINAL REPORT
Week 42: Sporadic
Within three weeks prior to the start of the season, cases of Influenza A H3, 2009 H1N1, and B have all been identified. A positive influenza A, H3 specimen was received week ending 10/6/2012 at the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL).
ILI has been above baseline for the past six weeks.
Week 46: Regional
Positives for A(H3) and B (Seventeen positive influenza A, H3 specimens were received week ending 11/17/2012 at the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL).
ILI: ~4% (above baseline)
Week 47: Regional
ILI: ~5% (baseline 3.41%)
Nine positive influenza A, H3 specimens and one Influenza B specimen were received week ending 11/24//2012 at the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL).
Week 48: Widespread
ILI: ~5.6% (baseline 3.41%)
Within three weeks prior to the start of the season, cases of Influenza A H3, 2009 H1N1, and B have all been identified. Twenty-four positive influenza A, H3 specimens and five Influenza B specimens were received week ending 12/1/2012 at the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL).
Of the total specimens received by the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL) for week ending December 8, 2012, 79% were positive for influenza by RT-PCR testing: 36 were positive for influenza A, H3 and five were positive for influenza B.
Week 50: Widespread
Overall influenza-like illness is above Alabama's threshold representing significant activity. Of the total specimens received by the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL) for week ending December 15, 2012, 67.9% were positive for influenza by RT-PCR testing: 67 were positive for Influenza A, H3 and nine were positive for Influenza B.

Of the total specimens received by the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL) for week ending January 5, 2013, 53% were positive for influenza by RT-PCR testing: 46 were positive for Influenza A, H3, 2 were positive for Influenza A, 2009 H1 and 5 were positive for Influenza B.
Week 2: Widespread

Of the total specimens received by the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL) for week ending January 12, 2013, 61% were positive for influenza by RT-PCR testing: 37 were positive for Influenza A, H3 and 2 were positive for Influenza B.

Of the total specimens received by the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL) for week ending January 26, 2013, 80% were positive for influenza by RT-PCR testing: 12 were positive for Influenza A, H3 and 4 were positive for Influenza B.
Week 5: Regional
Of the total specimens received by the Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL) for week ending February 2, 2013, 60% were positive for influenza by RT-PCR testing: 4 were positive for Influenza A, H3,1 positive for Influenza B, and 1 positive for Influenza 2009 H1N1.
