Week 44: Sporadic
ED visits tracking slightly above 5-yr average since week 40.
Confirmed hospitalizations (total 56 since week 40) tracking slightly above the 2-yr average.
ILI had been above 5-yr baseline in weeks 40-43, but dropped below baseline in week 44.
Week 45: Sporadic
ED visits tracking slightly above 5-yr average since week 40.
Confirmed hospitalizations (total 73 since week 40) tracking slightly above the 2-yr average.
ILI had been above 5-yr baseline in weeks 40-43, but dropped below baseline in weeks 44-45.
ODH lab reported results for those cases that are PCR positive for seasonal influenza. Positive results: (1) influenza A/H3 (total through 11/10/12).
Week 46: Regional
ED visits for ILI (2.1% and are tracking slightly above 5-yr average.
Confirmed hospitalizations (total 104 since week 40) jumped 45.16% and are tracking above the 2-yr average for this time period.
ILI (0.74%) and slightly above 5-yr baseline.
ODH lab reported results for those cases that are PCR positive for seasonal influenza. Positive results: (4) influenza A/H3; (3) Influenza B. Two influenza B specimens have undergone influenza antigenic characterization testing at the ODH lab. Both were characterized as B/Brisbane/60/2008-like, which is from a lineage of B viruses that is not included in the 2012-2013 influenza vaccine (total through 11/17/12).

Three influenza B specimens have undergoneinfluenza antigenic characterization testing either at the ODH lab or CDC. All have been characterized as B/Brisbane/60/2008-like, which is from a lineage of B viruses that is not included in the 2012-2013 influenza vaccine (total through 12/8/12).
No pediatric influenza-associated mortalities have been reported (through 12/8/12).
