    Cluster of Influenza A cases in Kowloon Hospital


    The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    The spokesperson for Kowloon Hospital made the following announcement today (February 27):

    Four patients (aged 24 to 48) and two staff members in a male Psychiatric Ward have presented with respiratory symptoms and fever since February 24.

    Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients and their test results were positive for Influenza A.

    The patients concerned are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition. One staff member is now on sick leave while the other one has recovered and returned to work.

    Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.

    Update on cluster of Influenza A cases in Kowloon Hospital


    The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    Regarding a male psychiatric ward in Kowloon Hospital in which some patients had been confirmed as having Influenza A recently, the spokesperson has the following update today (March 1):

    One more patient (aged 25) presented with upper respiratory symptoms and fever in the ward today.

    Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patient and the test results were positive for Influenza A.

    The patient concerned is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.

    Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.

    The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
