    Dysentery outbreak in Bongo Island

    COTABATO CITY, Philippines --- Health authorities are trying to prevent the further outbreak of dysentery cases in an island five kilometers off Maguindanao where more than 40 people fell ill the past three days after drinking water from wells made murky by last week?s heavy rains.

    Physician Kadil Sinolinding Jr., regional secretary of the Department of Health in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said epidemiologists are trying to determine the cause of the outbreak in Bongo island in Parang town.

    More than 20 residents of a fishing village in Tuka Marur in the eastern part of Bongo were taken Wednesday to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center due to painful abdominal spasms and loose bowel movement...

    Maguindanao cholera outbreak over, says health exec

    KIDAPAWAN CITY ? The outbreak of cholera in a remote village in Parang, Maguindanao has already been ?contained?, a top health official of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) said.

    ARMM?s health secretary, Dr. Kadil Sinolinding, said only few of the 67 patients from Bongo Island in Parang town remain at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) in Cotabato City. No new cases were recorded...

      ALTHOUGH all of the 160 Palarong Pambansa delegates from Eastern Visayas region went home in good health after earlier suffering from a diarrhea outbreak, the Medical and Sanitation Committee is still facing a blank wall in threshing the cause of the outbreak.

      Medical and Sanitation head Dr. Henrissa Calumpang said that in a laboratory result of the water sampling, it showed that the water is negative of e-coli and bacterial counts.

      ?It means that the water is safe to drink,? said Dr. Calumpang in an interview with Sun.Star...
