Medical teams rush to typhoid-affected village

JAMNAGAR: The health department of Jamnagar district panchayat has finally swung into action after typhoid break-out in Dhunvav village, the dumping site for city's garbage.

"At least 70 people are found suffering from fever and nine confirmed with typhoid. We have distributed 5,000 chlorine tablets in the village and started chlorination of water bodies," health officer, Jamnagar, Dr JJ Pandya said. Jamnagar municipal corporation (JMC) has been dumping close to 200 tonnes of city's garbage in Dhunvav, around 10 km from here. The village is also located just half-a-km from the famous Khijadia Bird Sanctuary and Marine National Park.
