Poultry in Maritime territory undergoing vaccination against bird flu
VLADIVOSTOK. April 5 (Interfax) -
The vaccination of domestic poultry against bird flu is nearing completion in Russia's Maritime territory (Primorye) in the run-up to the return of migrating birds from Southeast Asia after wintering there.
More than 315,000 domestic birds at private farms have been
vaccinated, the territorial administration told Interfax.
"Domestic poultry have been vaccinated in the Dalnerechensky,
Kirovsky, Spasskoye, Khanktaisky, Khasan, Khorol, Chernigovka, and Shkotovo districts and also in Artyom, Lesozavodsk, and Vladivostok. In the next two days, birds will be vaccinated in the Nadezhdinsky district," it said.
These regions were designated as potentially dangerous in terms of
the possibility of a bird flu outbreak, and therefore veterinarians vaccinated poultry there in a priority manner, it said.
