New Delhi Three patients, suspected to be suffering from H1N1 virus, are in a critical condition at RML Hospital. Doctors said one of them is suffering from renal failure.
?The patients were in consultation with private hospitals but did not report to a government facility. While none of them have any underlying illnesses, their condition is now critical because of the delay in diagnosis and treatment,? Principal Secretary (Health) J P Singh said.
The Delhi government on Saturday urged the public to directly report to government facilities instead of going to private hospitals. This came on a day 44 patients tested positive for H1N1 flu; seven of them are admitted in RML.
At RML, test results are still awaited for all three critical patients. ?They have been shifted to ICU. Their swab samples have been sent to NICD and we are waiting for results,? Dr N K Chaturvedi, Medical Superintendent, RML, said.
The patients include a 48-year-old man from Delhi, admitted on Thursday; a 30-year-old man; and a 40-year-old woman ? shifted to RML from Karnal and Faridabad, respectively, on Friday.
?All three were brought to the hospital with high fever and breathlessness. Their lungs have been infected and oxygen saturation is low,? Dr Chaturvedi said. ?The patients did not go to a doctor immediately after developing symptoms of flu. All of them had been to private hospitals and were finally referred to us.?
According to hospital authorities, the patient from Delhi had low urinary output along with other flu symptoms when brought to the hospital.
