Health officials: Another El Paso infant dies of H1N1 flu

EL PASO, Texas -- A 7-month-old child from Central El Paso has died of H1N1 flu, El Paso Department of Public Health officials announced Monday. This is the second El Paso infant to die due to H1N1 flu this year.
The child had underlying medical conditions, officials said. The infant was recently hospitalized with a flu-like illness and lab tests confirmed the child had the H1N1 virus.
No other details about the death were released.
Last week city health officials announced the death of another infant, also a 7-month-old from Central El Paso. They also announced the death of a nine-year-old child from Northeast El Paso.
Eleven people in El Paso County have died due to H1N1 flu so far this year, according to the Department of Public Health.
On Monday, Department of Public Health spokeswoman Tammy Fonce-Olivas said the department still had not received additional doses of the H1N1 vaccine since supplies ran out last week.
