Another man dies of suspected swine flu in Uttarakhand

Dehraun, Sept 8 (PTI) A man suspected to be suffering from swine flu has died at a hospital here, health officials said today.

B S Negi, a resident of Haridwar, was admitted to Jollygrant Himalayan Hospital on Sunday evening with Pneumonia.

Later, his condition deteriorated and suspecting that he was suffering with H1N1 virus, doctors administered flu medicines to him, nodal officer for swine flu in Uttarakhand Pankaj Jain said, adding he died last night.

Negi's throat swab samples have been sent to NICD for examination, Jain said.

If the test reports turn positive, this would be the third death due to the killer disease in Uttarakhand, he added.

Earlier, a 24-year-old engineering student Raunak Singh and a 35-year-old housewife Rubina had died of the flu last month in the state.

Jain said, 16 cases have so far tested positive for H1N1 virus in the state
