Almost 1000 cancer patients treated at Melbourne's Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre are being warned of possible exposure to a fungal infection.
Almost 1000 cancer patients at a Melbourne hospital are being warned they are at risk following potential exposure to a fungal outbreak.
The fungus spread from moisture left after a water leak in the Austin Hospital's partially-built new cancer centre in mid-January, says Professor Lindsay Grayson, from the hospital's infectious diseases department.
He said 997 patients who had attended the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre between January 21 and February 1 had been notified about the potential exposure.
The hospital said any patients believed to be at risk during the exposure period were also being contacted by their doctors...
