BRUSSELS -- A Belgian zoo said Friday that a pair of hippopotamuses in its care are in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, possibly the first time ever such animals have caught the disease...
#ZOOsamen
Our hippos Hermien and Imani are testing positive for COVID-19. Despite the positive test, the animals, apart from a runny nose, fortunately no other symptoms and are doing well . The hippopotamus building was immediately closed after the first positive test and will temporarily remain closed until Hermien and Imani test negative . In the near future, they will be extra watched by their caregivers who are implementing even stricter safety measures . Because how the animals got infected is impossible to figure out . Their caregivers have already tested negative and none of them have recently contracted the disease . #ZOOtogether
