Woman dies of swine flu in Bihar

In a first case of swine flu death in Bihar, a 40-year old woman succumbed to the disease today at a private hospital here.
The victim, a native of Saran district, died of swine flu at the special ward set up for her in the Jivak Heart Hospital, Dr. Ranjan Kumar said.
Alert sounded for dengue, swine flu in Bihar: Nitish
Patna, Sep 13 (PTI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said an alert has been sounded across Bihar in the wake of a spurt in the cases of dengue and swine flu. "We have alerted the authorities in the districts to take all preventive steps for checking the spread of dengue and swine flu virus, besides appropriate steps for treating the patients who tested positive for the diseases", Kumar told reporters here. The chief minister said he also spoke to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and apprised the latter of the situation. Medical experts were also being rushed to the places where several patients have tested positive for dengue, he said. While six persons have died due to dengue in Munger during the last three days, a woman died of suspected swine flu at a hospital here yesterday, sources said.
