A Willits Elementary Charter School kindergarten student has contracted bacterial meningitis, according to school officials.
Kara McClellan, director of Willits Elementary Charter School, said a kindergarten student was diagnosed Jan. 18 and is well on her way to recovery. McClellan notified parents Jan. 21 via e-mail.
McClellan said the combination of the student's brief time in school last week and the short incubation period of the disease make it likely that if other students were exposed to the disease, they would be exhibiting symptoms by now. McClellan reported no other cases of meningitis in the WECS student population as of Tuesday...
